Choppy playback of high res MP4 - K-lite MPC

Trying to watch a 3.05 GB MP4 on my PC renders the video in a lurching, choppy-ish manner. My specs seem to be all clear, to me:

 

Win 7 64

i5 2500k

16 GB RAM

R9 280x

lots of free drive space

 

I'm using media player classic from the latest K-lite codec pack, and switching the output rendered in View -> Options doesn't help anything, neither does changing the audio renderer.

 

I'm wondering what else could be causing this issue. Does anyone have an idea?

Klite isn't that great.

I can remember if gstreamer is on windows though...

Try a different codec pack. Try VLC.
