So I'm gonna get my new PC soon and I was gonna put windows 8.1 on it and I am wondering if I am still eligible for the free windows 10 upgrade for a year since Windows will have been activated after the release of Windows 10.

So you're getting a new PC but you won't have an activated copy of Windows on it? AFAIK you can still upgrade to 10 without issue even without a key but I'm not sure if that is legal or not.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

its gonna be legal but its gonna be activated after the july 28th or when ever the date windows 10 came out im buying my key from G2A

You can buy it now if you want... NCIX/B&H/Amazon, pretty sure they can be found here.
