Internet problems at the same time every day

Go to solution Solved by Altecice,

hmm this sounds like one of two things.

1) your ISP resets your lines at this time every night.

2) Your DHCP lease time is set to 24h and this is when it resets causing the DC.

Have you tried increasing your DHCP lease time ?

Hey guys, I have a very strange problem.

I'm connected to the router via an ethernet cable and have a static IP set-up for my desktop. Every night at 0:30 or so, the internet just doesn't work anymore.

Windows says the ethernet cable is disconnected, while it has been working all day.

What could be the cause of this problem? I don't know where to search for an answer anymore..

I had a similar problem before which was solved by using a static ip on this pc.

Thank you for the reply.

My DHCP lease time is set to 1 hour, so this shouldn't be an issue. I don't think this could be an ISP issue, since the wifi on my phone works fine during the desktop problems.

1 hour is a very short time for a lease. I would try increasing it to 24h or a week. It probably wont be the cause of your issue but its just good practice.

Ok thank you I'll increase the lease time. In the mean time, is there anything else I can try?

Could it be the ethernet cables? I mean I don't think its a connection problem since its working all day.

A wild guess would be that your modem is connected to some sort of automatic on/off switch like this: http://www.yousave.dk/images/Billeder/5702128208683-p.jpg

or that your ISP is messing with stuff :) its pretty normal to do maintenance after 00:01 to reduce impact on business customers (and most private customers)

Is the router integrated into the modem provided by your ISP, or seperate? If there is just one device, I would talk to your ISP about it. If the router is seperate, then the issue can't be related to your ISP (unless they own that too, which would be rare)
