I just got a 7950 3GB. I've been recently getting absolutely random shutdowns, whenever it wants, usually only once a day. Only when playing games.

Specs in my signature.

So, what happens is everything just shuts off. My tower power light just flashes like its in sleep mode. (I have sleep mode completely disabled). I have to flip the on/off switch on my power supply to restart my computer, so I'm assuming this is a PSU issue?

Using this I get like, 430w max, so I'm not entirely sure why it would be an issue, as its a 500w power supply. It wasn't new and I bought it off ebay a while ago, but still. It worked fine with my OC'd HD 7850.

I'm going to just assume it's the power supply though, so what do you think I should get? 600w? 650w?

But first, let's talk about parallel universes.

Always buy a new PSU. You never know what could happen when buying one used.

It worked fine with my 7850.

Do you have access to another PSU you can try ?

If not, then I'd say yes, get a new one, not used.

As for size, get what you need but if you have extra money you can also plan for the future.

If you can afford it, go oversize and go gold or platinum rating.

Bare minimum for what you list, if I built it I would go with 600w

I have a 450w. Spare that is.

It worked fine with my 7850.

PSUs are rated for capacity, not working load.

That 500w may work fine with the old card but the new one may tax it too much, just a guess though.

Try it, no need to install, just plug in what you need to see if it functions properly.

If it seems to, then buy a new PSU, I wouldn't run that setup with a 450 permanently.

I can dig around on the interwebs to find the PSU.

Pretty sure this is it.

It doesn't fit my case properly so it might be another form factor version.
