Fan Controls On Cases

Go to solution Solved by WoodenMarker,

I don't see how they wouldn't be 'plug and play'.

The controllers you're referring to power the fans using 2 pins and can power any fan attached to it with varying voltage. The 3rd pin is just for monitoring the rpm. 4pin fans use pwm by pulsing 12v and the aforementioned controllers don't use pwm.

So I've worked without fan controls and with the NZXT Sentry 2 before (5.25" fan controller), is the phantom and cases like that is the fan control the same concept just plug and play? Also do they need to be 4-pin controlled fans vs. 3 pin fans?

If you've previously won the build off please pm me so we can get something worked out.

So the fans don't need to be 4pin fans in order to work with built in controller on the case?

4pin is used for pwm. If the fan controller doesn't use pwm, it'll control the fan by varying the voltage.
