GPU issue? or not?

Go to solution Solved by Glenwing,

Sorry, its an AMD Radeon R9 280.

in the monitors menu there is only the option for wide or auto, neither work.

the reason I am assuming its a GPU issue is that its fine through the motherboard, it just automatically fits to the screen size.

cheers.

What connection are you using between your GPU and monitor, and what were you using between your motherboard and monitor?

Try going to the Catalyst Control Center, go to Digital Flat Panel Scaling Options (or somthing like that) and play around with the slider. Ideally you'd want it to work at 0, but you can use the slider to underscan to compensate if you need to (though this will result in a fuzzier image).

Hi All,

I have been recommended to this site by a friend so here goes:

I have recently purchased a new Samsung 27" curved monitor, all seems well apart from the fact that the image does not fit the screen when at maximum resolution of 1920x1080 when ran through my graphics card, I have to drop it to 1600x900 for it to fit.

It is fine when I run it through the motherboard and the picture looks great however I cannot game without the GPU.

I have updated all the drivers for both the card and monitor but this hasn't resolved the issue.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Nick.

What graphics card do you have?

This is phenomenon called overscan, usually it must be fixed in the monitor's internal menu. Look for an option which is usually called Scan Settings, Aspect Ratio, Aspect Control, or something like that. You will need to set this to "Just Scan" or "1:1". Or just play around with all the options I guess.

If you can't find this setting then you can adjust for it in your graphics card's control panel but you will lose image quality/sharpness in this way.
