I'm looking for a gaming laptop that is under the £1000 mark (around 1500USD).

The G551JM from asus looks like the best option so far but is there anything else out there that you would recommend with a thin, portable form factor like the new razer blade that can handle most games at a reasonable frame rate.

Also what does everyone think about touch screens on laptops as I have never used one yet, but I know linus loves them.

if you're gonna take it with you to college i wouldn't suggest to get a gaming laptop. it's not worth it to carry around with you a 3+kg laptop all day just to be able to play 1-2 hours at night

what i'd suggest would be to get an ultrabook with a dedicated gpu line a 940m which can run every new game at about medium settings

here's a good option from asus

http://www.amazon.com/Zenbook-UX303LB-13-3-Inch-Touchscreen-Windows/dp/B00X409AN6

it has everything i'd(and i hope you too) want in a laptop. it's very thin and very light)1.5kg)

what do you think??

here's a demo of it running gta v

AMD Athlon X4 750k; Gigabyte F2A88XM-DS2; 8Gb Corsair XMS 1600 Mhz; AMD Hd5670 1Gb DDR3; Bequiet E6-600W; W7 Ultimate x64

I think this is good, and even for future upgradeability in terms of storage and RAM.

I'm actually also looking for advice on this topic, I'm hopefully heading to uni next year to do a bachelor in IT.
I've kinda always been into the desktop experience but I would rather one computer than moving all my work between two computers.
I want a laptop that could run games reasonably well, has good build quality, battery life, and also provide me with a decent typing experience.
Displays don't really bother me that much, honestly TN is fine and 1080p is fine.
Prices around 1500~ AUD but obviously if there's something that fits the bill for cheaper I'd be willing to listen.

Try seeing if there's anything here you can find.
