Just the basic things and make sure it has enough usb front panel concord as well as enough SATA ports

Thanks for reminding me of the SATA ports, I recently bought an Samsung 850 120gb ssd, and my mobo had no Sata3's, so I created a topic asking if I should plug my ssd to Sata2's or GSata3's. I was told GSata3 is the same as Sata3 so I plugged it in my GSata3 port, but my bios shows my ssd as IDE Ch.4 master even if I made it to AHCI

Keep in mind, not having Sata3 will bottleneck your SSD. That may be enough reason to upgrade the mobo, but it's still up to you.

What motherboard would you recommend for i7 2600

I don't really have any suggestions. Just look around for a board that has the features you need for whatever your budget is.
