This is MUCH better. Still small form factor, has a MUCH MUCH better GPU, and an SSD. BTW, the I5 4690K is fine for gaming and 90% of use cases.

Purpose of system? total budget ?

Sorry for adding this to that start but its for every day use as well for

emulating software, games, os and things of that nature. Its for some

one that is studying to be a software engineer. And budget seems to be

around $1400.

Ohh and he wants to be able to play Mortal Kombat X

Also a h97 board and unlocked processor and a cooler dont go together(it doesn't mean it wouldn't work)

Get a Z97 and over clock it

Yeah thats one thing I cant figure out, how to tell apart the processors that are locked and unlocked.

He should be fine with a locked processor.

So how do I select a locked processor?

Thanks for the recomendation, but the dude I am making this for wants the Node 804. And I know a ssd is better but for now

I would like to stick with a hard drive.

Thank you I will look into this.

And how do you figure out if the Processor is meant for overclocking or not.

An overclockable processor has a "K" at the suffix

i7-4790K -- Unlocked

i7-4790 -- Locked

My username was supposed to be maxzhu273 but I typoed and the "x" was left out.

Either check if it has K in its name

For eg: 4790k

This signifies it is unlocked

in locked case name will be 4790

As you see there is no K

This applies to most intel processors

In AMD's case every processor is unlocked i believe

Just google whether processor is locked or unlocked if you want to be super sure

Ohhhhhhh, its that simple huh. Thank you for the information.

That is not that simple

it applies only to intel mainstream chips and non extreme edition series high end chips

So is a 4 Tb instead of the seagate and the ssd not recommended? Im just asking, or is it due

to start up speeds later on when the drive is full?

You see 1tb is enough for 100- movies

and an ssd containing Windows should boot up faster

or if you want something with more space and high speed

go for a hybrid or sshd

It is faster and not too expensive
