Alright, so I appologize if this isn't the correct place to post this topic.

Anyways, I plan on buying a new mobo soon and I hear that I have to format my C: So my question is do I also have to format my D: drive? Or only the C:?

Thanks for any answers. :)

You don't have to format anything. If anything, your Windows license will no longer valid, if it's an OEM key.

Welcome to the Forums!

If you have a drive that already has windows in place and you want to save the original data on it all you have to do is plug it into the new motherboard and configure that to be the main boot drive, you will need to re-enter the Windows key since your doing a motherboard change also.

You may not have to reformat your drive; however, if you find your self needing to make sure to backup everything. Unplug any drive you don't want to be reformatted. Format your drive during the windows install. After the install, you can plug back in all your drives.
