Help with Eyefinity in R9 390

This is a repost of something that was in the Troubleshooting section. It didn't have much luck there and I have always had better responses in General Discussion, so here we go!

Hello Community!

I just installed my new Sapphire R9 390 GPU and I am trying to configure my triple monitor eyefinity setup.

I made sure that my whole setup worked before moving the computer back to its actual spot and plugging my two flanking monitors in. I had testing it with my main monitor supporting DP before plugging in the two other monitors into the HDMI and DVI ports.

It booted using the DVI monitor, then decided to use the DP monitor as main. I went to setup eyefinity and it only could "see" two monitors. The monitors it could "see" being the HDMI and DP connected monitors.

I have had issues with eyefinity in the past, so I detected displays, and when that didn't work, I rebooted my machine.

It still could not detect the third monitor...

I refreshed the requirements for eyefinity in my brain by googling them. One DP must be used, then you should be A-OK for triple monitor.

Apparently I have missed something, so maybe one of you guys has some knowledge as to the issue I am experiencing.

TL;DR:

Eyefinity no work. (As usual)

New GPU (390).

Plugged into DVI, HDMI, and DP.

It should work?

My system is:

Gigabyte Z97x gaming 5 motherboard

i7 4790k (AIO watercooled)

16gb g.skill sniper (cl 9 version) running at 1866

Storage space is irrelevant.

All of this inside of a Phanteks Luxe.

and of course the new GPU: Sapphire R9 390.

I've never dealt with Eyefinity, but the only thing i could think of that might be an issue is the type of DVI connector you are using. You may want to do some research about that.

Good Luck!

@xeles

Eyefinity has never really work when I get a new card, there is always some issue.

It is currently plugged into DP, DVI, and a DP port with a DP --> DVI active adapter.

It doesn't work.

Does not work, yes its a problem.

There are not two DVI ports on the card... and I have reinstalled it about 12 times in the last 4 hours.

I am working with AMD and Sapphire at the moment, perhaps they will be able to help.

The "Hawaii" GPU architecture [ R9-290(X) and R9-390(X) ] allows for a more flexible Eyefinity configuration -- you are NOT required to use DisplayPort (like the HD 7000 series / refreshed R-200 GPU's).

DP + HDMI + DVI should  work right from the start.

@-rascal- I agree that it should just work. I am using 15.17.1 drivers. Reinstalled as of 30 minutes ago. Far Cry 4 has crashed to black screen and the drivers themselves wwhile typing this first line have crashed and recovered once already.

The drivers packaging version is: 15.20.1062.1004-150803a1-187669C

I am using windows 7 SP1 64-bit.

I am not running a  Eyefinty setup at this time. I am using a single monitor and am still experiencing issues.

Hmm...I am seeing a different driver package number code for 15.7.1; are you using the drivers directly available from AMD's website, or from another website / source?

The original 15.7 driver package is listed as: 15.20.1046.150622a-186188C

The latest 15.7.1 driver package is listed as 15.20.1062.150715a-187142C, and dated as 7/28/2015 or 7/29/2015.

If the drivers that you have installed are indeed from AMD's webpage, then they may have slightly updated the 15.7.1 drivers since launch date.

Another possible recommendation is to try 15.7 (NOT 15.7.1) and see if it fixes any of your problems.

I had literally gone to their website, clicked download, used control panel to remove all traces of AMD drivers, and reinstalled using the downloaded version.

I actually just downloaded the 15.7 drivers, going to try them now.

15.7 appears to have fixed all the blue screen and black screen issues that I was having that are not game bug related (game bugs like witcher 3 and far cry 4 crashing to black screen, but that is the games problem)

Eyefinity however, does still not work. I am going to try messing with the cabling again, perhaps I can force the system to see it all.

AFTER POSTING EDIT:

Of course after posting this... the drivers crash and recover a couple seconds later... I am talking with sapphire support right now, perhaps they can help.
