fan overcloking

Go to solution Solved by wardude1,

I don't know anyting about this, but this idea is cool af, so I am following it :)

well since you are intrestate

I have overclocked my 3 bitfenix spectre pro 230mm to 17 volt using the -12 volt rail as a ground and the 5 volt rail as a voltage line which resultate in a 17 volt difference. the fans are now powerfull enough to use the table as an air hockey table (244 cm by 122 cm)

if you have some more questions just quote my post or message me

I have searched the web for an answer but can't really find it.

so I am making a air hockey table which uses a pc psu and some pc fans + (arduino)

well i have bought 230mm fans from bitfenix which dont really turn that quick but are really powerfull. I just need a bit more power so i wanted to let them spin a bit faster with a higher voltage (15 - 18 volt)

so the easiest thing to do is connecting the 3.3v rail with the 12 volt rail. but i want to know either this is possible?

otherwise i think i have to use a laptop charger or something

I know it will heart the lifespawn of the fan..... dont tell me please

Do you know how an airhockey table works? It is with a pump, not fans. If you just wanna overclock fans you just have to give them more voltage using your Arduino.

it works with fans with high rpm so i picked the wrong ones i know......

and the arduino only produces 5 and 3.3 volt and the one which it is connected on. dont think it is an good idea to pomp 1A with 17 volt through an arduino.

but thank you for the idea at least :)
