Hi,

i got my pc setup, build everything, and on first boot, it gives me blue screen of death when starting up windows (i'm using a previously used WD blue 1tb hdd , the rest is new)

with the 0x0000007B error (harddrive related i think) and i have no clue what to do. I do not know where the windows cd is :( . What do i do?  i am using a MSI Z97S SLI krait edition.

Have a lovely day.

The boot device isn't accessible.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/324103

Option 1: A device driver that the computer boot controller needs is not configured to start during the startup process.

Option 2: A device driver that the computer boot controller needs is corrupted.

Option 3: Information in the Windows XP registry (information related to how the device drivers load during startup) is corrupted.

Option 4: You may receive a "Stop 0x0000007B" error message if your computer is infected with a boot-sector virus.

Option 5: You may receive a "Stop 0x0000007B" error message if there is a resource conflict between the boot controller and another controller or between SCSI devices.

If you troubleshoot these 5 options and you still cant figure it out, let me know.  If you need help with these 5 options, let me know as well.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

I don't understand the statement?  Why were you not able to format the drive?

What settings in the BIOS have you touched?

Nothing really, i've tried changing the sata mode, but it did not work so i put it back on AHCI, i've tried using RAID and IDE  mode.

You do realize that you shouldn't touch any of these settings unless you have a reason to.  Are you using a legacy device?  Are you RAID'ing?

Neither, asked a friend and he suggested i tried those. I'm gonna look for a copy of win7 around the house since i suspect i do know where it located. That should solve it, is this the best option?

I'm guessing that you didn't install the OS you just took the HD out of the old machine and put it in the new one thinking that some way some how it will work?

That doesn't work.  You HAVE to install Windows again when you change platforms.  See the link in my signature, watch a few of the videos.
