Ok guys, I just joined this forum and I need some advice if you have it!

So the background is that I am leaving the Army soon and I am building myself a balls out badass PC without being completely retarded with my money.

Here is what I have come up with so far. I've revised it several times and I think this is ideal at the moment. Please, tell me what you think, what won't work, suggestions are welcome! I want to be reasonably smart with my money, but my budget is about 10k.

Here is the link on PCPartpicker

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/qsT3D3

For those of you who do not like links, here is the whole build laid out.

CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($359.99 @ NCIX US)

CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i GTX 70.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler  ($109.99 @ Micro Center)

Motherboard: MSI Z170A XPOWER GAMING TITANIUM EDITION ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($299.99 @ Newegg)

Memory: Corsair Dominator Platinum 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory  ($588.14 @ Amazon)

Storage: Samsung XP941 Series 256GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive  ($199.99 @ Amazon)

Storage: Intel 750 Series 1.2TB PCI-E Solid State Drive  ($944.99 @ Amazon)

Storage: Intel 750 Series 1.2TB PCI-E Solid State Drive  ($944.99 @ Amazon)

Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX Titan X 12GB HYBRID Video Card (2-Way SLI)  ($1038.76 @ Amazon)

Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX Titan X 12GB HYBRID Video Card (2-Way SLI)  ($1038.76 @ Amazon)

Case: Corsair 900D ATX Full Tower Case  ($299.99 @ Amazon)

Power Supply: Corsair 1000W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply  ($169.99 @ Newegg)

Optical Drive: LG WH14NS40 Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer  ($49.89 @ OutletPC)

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro OEM (64-bit)  ($139.89 @ OutletPC)

Monitor: Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q 144Hz 27.0" Monitor  ($669.99 @ Newegg)

I've cut out the stuff that isn't really a huge deal like thermal paste, the fans and the controllers, the peripherals and such.

Also I know the monitor is 1440p and the whole 2 titans is overkill, but in my brain I'd rather have ridiculous frames that look really good than decent frames that looks spectacular, if you know what I mean.

A point of concern for me is the 2 Intel 750s and 2 Titans playing nice with each other. Is that even going to work? How much performance will I be sacrificing on either thing? I'd hate to pay all that money and end up with a final product that isn't pushing what it should.

Well, thanks for your time in looking at this! I look forward to discussing this planning with you guys!

why not just get x2 gtx 980 ti's?

edit:

you can easily get away with not spending so much money without sacrificing noticeable performance

also, don't get the industrial fans by noctua. they are far too loud. get the original ones.

I get asked that every time, so I've come prepared.

The 980ti, basically a Titan X with half the vram.

Very VERY close performance.

I want all the vram and all the performance.

I know what you are getting at though, because 6gb is still plenty for my goals, and the performance difference is probably negligible, and but the time 12gb will be needed in games the Titan Xs will probably be obsolete anyways.

But, I stand by, I don't want to be completely retarded with my money, only a little retarded. lol

I don't know now, my resolve has been tested... 980tis are a really attractive option.

With noise, I am not really that concerned, I have pretty bad hearing anyways lol

Oi, get a dual CPU mobo and stick 2 5000 dollar Xeons on it.

lol then I've over budget before I even did anything lol

Fans are kinda weird but whatever :P  also please get 980ti's instead of titan x's. they perform better in a lot of circumstances.. Why not get a 4k monitor? or get the predator when the gsync 100hz panel comes out :P

I think I might actually move over to the 980tis, lol.

As for the 4k monitor, I really like all the options on the ASUS ROG Swift. G Sync, 144hz and good size display at 1440p? With a low response time? Aww yeah...

As for the fans, Some of them will be replacing fans on the coolers. so its all just one fan type. Uniformity. I must have it.

Also it is a huge case and I like it to have fans all over the place to push air in and out to keep the whole thing nice and cool.

I've thought about water cooling, but with the hybrid options being so easy to do and getting decent temps at stock clocks, I feel like I am happy with that.

2x Storage: Intel 750 Series 1.2TB PCI-E Solid State Drive  ($944.99 @ Amazon)

you won't be able to run 2x GPU and 2x 750 SSD on that motherboard.

one can run PCIe and the other through the PCIe/M.2 slot. the lower

slot will run half speed on the 750 SSD (2.0x4)

x8/x8 (GPU) x4 750 SSD (20 PCIe lanes) is what the CPU can support.

not enough PCIe lanes to roll all the peripherals. for that you'd need x99 platform.

Is there not a Z170A mobo that would run that? I did select the mother board because can handle the actual amount of hardware there, being the 4 pcie slots.

The initial build I had was a 5960x with an asus x99 deluxe, would that board be able to handle all the storage I'd like to do?

yes, on that has a mounted PLX chip to simulate extra channels, but it does
induce extra lag/delay.

yes, with 28 (5820) or 40 lanes (5930/5960) will handle your PCIe whoas. the 5820

would be plenty.

That is a good question. One for which I do not have an answer. If I have to move back to x99 to get the lanes I need to run my storage set up, then there is no reason to stick with a Z170A mobo.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/4Hkyzy

(Edit: Added a larger M.2, it will be my OS and support software so I wanted more space on it. Should be enough to cram iTunes, Skype, Browsers, and the like I think, I am a stickler for storage and hate having to remove things and reinstall things when I want them, so its money I am willing to spend to have high speed access to programs and games and such)

Is where it is at now. REALLY want to stay with the Titans, just because I have such a hard on for them. The savings to move to the EVGA 980ti Hybrids is 600 buck though. And that can buy a lot of other stuff...

-snip-

Also, I didn't mean to ignore you! So The change you made are good, but I want to move onto windows 10 for DX12, I am a corsair junkie so I was sticking with their 1000w PSU, their customer support was so awesome to me when I had to RMA my current PSU (which turned out to be an over heating CPU and not PSU related at all). As far as the 980tis, I am still strongly considering them, but the hybrid version for the extra cooling.

Edit: In regards to the Titan Xs vs 980ti contention, in all honesty 12gbs is really overkill, I know that, on my current set up I have a 3gb Radeon 7970 and have yet to have run into vram issues on that, but do you guys really think that 6gbs would really ever be a problem in a single monitor 1440p setup? Even with maxed out everything? In like 4-6 years even? I'd like to future proof this as much as I can, given I doubt I'll have money to bring on serious upgrades any time soon. So I'd like to build this to last as long as I can. The 980ti price point versus the minimal performance drop is really attractive to me. Even though my budget is 10k, I'd like to come in well under that mark if I can without sacrificing much in the way of the bleeding edge.

Also I cannot remember, Dual SLI is 8x/8x right? Or would it be 16x/16x if it can? I haven't built a PC in a few years now and all the research I did before hand has escaped me while I've hung out with my good friend Jim Beam.

(I don't know who the admin is who is trimming my posts, but thank you, I haven't been on a forum in a very long time and my etiquette is kind of rusty.)
