Hi, so today, when twidling around in the bios, it said my RAM was only running at 1333mhz, but I have 2400mhz ram. So, I changed the multiplier to 2400mhz so it runs at 2400mhz. Now I boot up my pc and in cpuid it shows 1199mhz, which multiplied by two is 2400mhz. Great. But then I run prime95 stress test and HOLY BALLS my CPU is running at 100C. So i go back into my bios and revert my changes back to 1333mhz, and now my cpu is running at 75C at full load. WTF. SOmebody help me please!

Higher frequency means the CPU runs faster to transfer data but it shouldn't be that high, so maybe a dodgy cooler?

Have you tried remounting it?

I know it is on there right, but how could changing my RAM frequency affect the temps of my cpu?

did you correctly apply thermal paste?

Plus this happens when I change the RAM's frequency, NOT the Cpu's.

RAM Is a temporary primary storage device, the CPU uses it to grab data and to input data for guess what, temporary storage, when the ram runs faster the CPU has to move around data a lot faster, meaning the CPU has to do more work, and therefore getting hotter, but considering the temp your cpu is getting up too, I think your cooler needs remounting.

it shouldn't......make sure nothing gets fucked up in your bios settings when you change the a high frequency? Maybe? Like an OC for some reason?

I went in the bios and changed it to xmp, Temps are a tiny bit better but like 98c, which is still trash
