look in the task manager if anything uses a lot of ram, CPU or hard drive speed also have you uninstalled the spam ?

 if yes look through C: for left over directories/files and delete them after you made sure that they are spam

in your task manager ?

if so then just programs that are not from Microsoft, drivers or programs that you know 

if there are no then search for strange files

 

as of right know i don't really know was could be causing this but i guess that sometimes some program is bringing your PC to 100% workload for a short time

and causes the not responding programs

 

usually there is a program running in the back  and as you said you had spam there is probably some spam left that is causing these hick ups
