A while back I got to building my first gaming pc, so far been extremely satisfied by it, but now here's the thing:

I've been extremely interested in jumping on the VR bandwagon and might save up to buy myself an Oculus Rift when it comes out, depending on the price etc.

Thing is though, I'm not sure at all if my pc can handle it. Can anyone maybe provide some insight on being able to manage or pointing out if this or that needs an upgrade?

So far I'm using the following components:

CPU: AMD FX-8350

Cooler: Scythe Shuriken Rev. B

RAM: Kingson HyperX FURY 8GB DIMM DDR3-1600

Mobo: ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3

GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB

Storage: Western Digital Blue WD10EZEX 1TB

PSU: Cooler Master G650M

Thanks in advance!

Maybe VR minesweeper.

your gpu is minimum recommended, your cpu is below minimum recommended.

Oculus is 2160x1200 resolution and 90Hz. I doubt you can run even current titles at 1080p 100+ fps.

Location: Kaunas, Lithuania, Europe, Earth, Solar System, Local Interstellar Cloud, Local Bubble, Gould Belt, Orion Arm, Milky Way, Milky Way subgroup, Local Group, Virgo Supercluster, Laniakea, Pisces–Cetus Supercluster Complex, Observable universe, Universe.

Spoiler

12700, B660M Mortar DDR4, 32GB 3200C16 Viper Steel, 2TB SN570, EVGA Supernova G6 850W, be quiet! 500FX, EVGA 3070Ti FTW3 Ultra.

It really depends on what you play, as @ZetZet mentioned you will want to be able to run 2160x1200 @ 90Hz minimum so with the more power hungry titles you might just be able to get there with the lowest settings on some while not on others but some older titles, less demanding titles or 'indie' VR experiences or things like Minecraft and Source engine games you'll be fine.

And Oculus reccomends AMD for their stuff last time i checked, seeing as i think they are using the Liquid VR devkit (basically mantle with fancy VR stuff added to it)

EDIT: i personally reccomend buying a lot of paper bags. My best friend bought the original Devkit... I never get motion sickness, but that shit. Dear god its terrible, and you gotta train yourself to use it, if you try to just put it on and run with it, youll get rekt
