Laptop screen swap - 720p TN to 1080p IPS touch? Dell e7440

===PCtyc00n===

I very recently bought a used Dell e7440 off of craigslist for $400 great deal but there were a few drawbacks the specs of this model are as follows

4600u I7

8gb ram

256gb SSD

1366x768 TN panel no touchscreen

Now what I want to do is swap out the screen of this one for a model that has the FHD IPS touch pane

Ive seen reports of similar things before so I am hoping for some good news - So does anyone know where I can find a screen for that specific model, I found an article [http://www.tomsguide.com/answers/id-2246766/replacing-touch-laptop-screen-touch-screen.html] that says it was possible but since I dont do much ebay anymore so if anyone  can help me find it this model on some secondary site, reputable if possible, help would be much appreciated.  I found that model # is  PMJMX

Thanks for any help,

AL

So, I searched the part number mentioned, and this is the first to pop up. It's not cheap though, but I got a prompt on the page to save 10% with "3 social actions" (probably just shouting them out on social media.)

They're seemingly legitimate. They have decent reviews online and a storefront in Texas.

Compatibility wise, the board should have all of the necessary connectors and the drivers should already exist on the Dell website.

try typing the model number of the laptop, followed by screen replacement.

Before I removed the horrible matte film that was on my old laptop, I was considering completely changing out the panel, and stumbled on a site that seemed pretty reputable, and gave a lot of info on the connection type, and any compatibility issues (granted they were the exact same res, and non touch)

If there are other versions of your laptop that have touch screens/ higher res panels, then it would likely be easier, as the graphics solution/ bios would detect it...

PSU: RM650x + Braided cables | Case:  painted Corsair c70 | Monitor: MSI 1440p 144hz VA | Drives: 500GB 850 Evo (OS)

Thanks for the website, Ill probably order it from them when it returns to stock, I am wondering though if you think the laptop might not support the higher res[im not worried about the touchscreen because thats a seperate feature]because of validation reasons, I upgraded it to Windows 10 right when I bought it so it has those settings in place I am going to upgrade the RAM to 16gbs soon anyway so I dont mind doing some work with hacks but I'd rather not.  SO if you think I'll have any problems and might know a way to fix any if they come[cuz FHD IPS touch is what I really want] then I'd really appreciate some help.

Thanks again,

Al

Just make sure the connector is the same. Im not sure if a touch enabled screen will have a separate cable for that feature, or if its will be baked into the display cable itself (I didn't notice a difference between my current blade that has a touch enabled panel, and my previous msi laptop that had a standard fhd display, cable wise).
