Hi Guys,

Hope someone can help as this problem is driving me crazy!

Essentially I have no display output when my PC soft reboots. If the power is cut completely on reboot it powers back up as normal.

This is causing massive issues trying to upgrade to Windows 10 as I'm not able to see the progress when it reboots to know whether it's okay to hard reboot so I can see the screen again!

I've currently tried the following to no avail...:

Remove GPU and used iGPU - No change

Moved GPU to second slot - No change

Swapped GPU for different card - No change

Replaced PSU - No change

Removed all devices except keyboard and mouse - No change

Updated motherboard BIOS to latest version - No change

Updated GPU drivers to latest version - No change

When I removed all devices I just entered the BIOS and "Saved and reset" and still experienced the issue so it's definitely before drivers are loaded.

I'm not sure what else to try... Any help would be more than appreciated.

reset cmos, u clearly are having boot failures >> If the power is cut completely on reboot it powers back up as normal. <<

check if ur boot failures are memory timings related ( set memory timings manual according to spd )

check if u dont have any usb stick in ur usb ports ( could be the cause of boot failures... had it myself with certain usb sticks, keep in mind it can also be other usb devices such as a phone and what not )

I hate the same issue and turning off fast boot in the BIOS fixed it for me.

I know this may sound like a dumb fix, but I had a similar problem during an attempt to upgrade to win 10. I was only getting a black screen for large portions of the upgrade, what solved it for me was plugging in a second monitor during the upgrade process. For some reason although I had it setup for only single monitor output it kept defaulting to show on a secondary monitor.

Hi guys,

I've now also tried:

Booting with nothing connected over USB not even kb/mouse - No change

Amended memory settings and booted with single RAM module - No change

Disabled fast boot no change - No change

I didn't try plugging in a second screen but I'm getting this problem in BIOS too so it shouldn't be that right?

Thanks for the help guys

@JR94 if its not booting ill almost guarantee its a bios problem. if you have two bios boot under another. if theres no display its either bios or bent/brocken cpu pin. if you've tried all else id remove the cpu check the socket. if all looks fine replace and cancel that off. then move to bios.

did you make changes to the bios before installing the os?
