Is showing off Kickstarters on here against the CoC? I've seen many Kickstarters posted on here but none of the people posting were the developers themselves. Would it be against the rules for someone to post their own Kickstarter on here?

Wishing leads to ambition and ambition leads to motivation and motivation leads to me building an illegal rocket ship in my backyard.

I think advertising is against the CoC. I may be wrong.

well thats just the same as advertising isn't it

True, but wouldn't showing off other's kickstarters be advertising as well? I mean it's more of a gray area, as its showing off an idea and project. Not trying to sell anything but donations. Idk.

Yeah, i know that is. I'm just trying to understand what kickstarters can or can't be posted. What about a kickstart that has been already funded?

I'm pretty sure that still counts. It's still advertising.

i've posted a fair amount of good tech with pottential impact on tech news, i wasn't reffered or encouraged to do so for payment or other things , Just thought it was cool & posted it here, and a few were put up on the WAN show as well, i don't know about others, maybe it was posted as advertisement so it got removed

Details separate people.

That's pretty stupid. So you can advertise kickstarters of other people's but if it's your own it would get removed? Huh, I see where it makes sense, but kinda a gray area still.

Good question. I used to be a mod for a large forum and the way we handled this is that if the thread was meant to generate discussion (in this case, of whatever is being kickstarted), then it's fine.

But hey, I'm not a mod here, so you might wanna PM one first.

There's nothing wrong with kickstarters. Sometimes it's more practical for small engines instead of having an electric starter, and personally I just prefer them. You don't rely on battery power as much, but it can be a pain in the ass to get a larger cold engine started.
