So recently I noticed that my PC was lagging a lot so I opened task manager to see that I was at 99% RAM usage. I found this strange as I have 16GB of RAM and had nothing but chrome open (Chrome is a RAM hog but not like that). The program using the highest amount of RAM was chrome at around 500MB yet the system was still lagging like the full 16GB were being used. I restarted and the problem went away but came back once every one to two days. I figured that I had some kind of memory leak from my modded version of Fallout NV so I didn't launch it for a few days but the problem still came back. Stranger still I tried launching Rust today and noticed that it was lagging like crazy even on lowest settings. I used to be able to max it at 200Fps just a few weeks ago. I opened Task Manager again and found that it was using 90% of my CPU (4690k). I know Rust is not optimized but my buddy runs it at 15% CPU utilization. This time restarts won't fix the issue. The RAM problem also seems more frequent. I don't know what's causing this. I have very few programs on my PC and all of them are well known and wouldn't have a massive memory leak. Any help?

Did this start happening after you installed windows 10? or did this problem occur before. you could try to do a system restore to try to solve the problem. Alternatively you could uninstall and then reinstall chrome. 500mb usage on chrome is not normal by any means. Also, if you have an antivirus make sure you do a scan of your computer.

Also run dxdiag and see if your computer is recognizing 16gb. it could also be faulty ram though, that's very unlikely. incase it says anything else than around 16gb try reseating your ram.

It happened after I installed Windows 10. All 16GB are recognized and 500mb is normal for my chrome with a bunch of tabs open.

That's pretty normal. What games? What cpu?

4690k. Rust is the main culprit but honestly the game is in early access and it does seem to think I'm still on Windows 8.1 so it's probably some compatibility thing. Thanks for your help. I think everything's OK for now.
