do i need a new adapter?

i have a tp link usb adapter for my pc, but sometimes my wifi goes away without losing wifi bars. So do i need a new sort of adapter? maybe a pci one works better? I don't want to spend too much. Not more than 40 euro's. Or can i fix this? Running a cable won't work, it just won't. And my wifi is fine/pretty good.
