PSU question

MisterWhite
Go to solution Solved by mata-pombos,

yes 550w is enough for the build and i would pick corsair one

So the website in which im ordering my pc parts suggested this PSU: Corsair VS 550W ATX 120mm fan. My pick: MODECOM ATX FEEL 620W 120mm.

So is 550W enough for this build and if so which of these 2 is better?

Order _ Fortakas.pdf

i5-4690k, R9 380 4gb, 8gb-1600MHz ram, corsair vs 550w, astrock h97m anniversary.

Turetu uztekti nebent tu nori labai overclockint. Tau realiai reikia virs 300W, bet visa laika reikia tureti bent 20% daugiau, taigi 550 turetu uztekt. Kodel r9 380?

380 yra tas pats kas 280. Geriau paimciau panaudota r9 290x uz tokia kaina. Nes Fortakas parduoda metu senumo korta uz ta pacia kaina ir tikisi, kad kazkas pirks. Is ebay gali nusipirkti uz 200GBP lengvai (290x) Bet turbut del garantinio jaudinies?

Modecom are EXTREMLY low quality products - have had bad speakers, bad keyboards, you name it, they cheap out. Corsair VS are also pretty bad but if you are on a very limited budget then the cosair CX units are what you'd be better off with

If budget isn't an issue - I'd get a SeaSonic M12II 620W or EVGA 600W

Rebrandas geresnis negali buti :D ten greiciausiai tiesiog overclokino labiau. Neblogas buildas, bet geresne vaizdo plokste kaip 290x padarytu builda i gera.

Overclocking on the VS series might result in a fire FYI - just figured I'd post that in here @MisterWhite

Why would that happen?

VS are VERY low quality, much like cheap chinese units like Diablotek, Game Daemon and etc. They have cheap chinese-sourced capacitors, poor build quality, not good enough ripple and noise suppression and are thus only usable in non-gaming office machines where they are unlikely to catch fire or blow a cap.

I think you got it mixed up. It's the VSM series that's good and the CX units which are horrible.

edit: VS is in Tier 2a, while CX is in Tier 3.

edit2: More evidence of the VS series's awesomeness

edit3: facepalm, didn't see the "Corsair" part -.-  the good VS series is from Coolermaster. Never mind.

I think that that is overstating things a little much, but the VS series is not Corsair's best by any means. And frequently you are having to pay a premium for that Corsair name. Since it isn't even up to Bronze standards I would look at something else, even in Corsair's lineup. If you can, look at EVGA's GS line. Way better quality and it will work better on your build as well.

Sir William of Orange: Corsair 230T - Rebel Orange, 4690K, GA-97X SOC, 16gb Dom Plats 1866C9,  2 MX100 256gb, Seagate 2tb Desktop, EVGA Supernova 750-G2, Be Quiet! Dark Rock 3, DK 9008 keyboard, Pioneer BR drive. Yeah, on board graphics - deal with it!

They are known to start fires when pushed too far cause of the cheap components, much like any other cheap unit.

Tier 3 on the EggXpert list is actually the 4th tier when you consider that there's a 2b tier. The CX series is in the same place on both lists.

That one is just a copy paste from the EggXpert list which is a bit dated and has quite a few errors

"Rawr XD"
