I'm curious, how does putting in the oven help?

Sometimes the solder joints break and putting it in the oven re-flows it. Same concept as heatgunning a ps3 or Xbox 360. I have fixed my buddies ps3 5 or 6 times using that method.

Make sure to remove the cooler and fans first though.

When in doubt, re-format.
