Heyyo,

Only on games that aren't properly multi-threaded such as World of Tanks. For the most part? The FX-8320 at 4GHz+ will still perform ok.

You can always buy a GTX 970 or AMD R9 390 (whichever is cheaper with a non-reference cooler tbh) and see what happens. If your GPU sits at something like 70% load whilst your CPU always sits at 100% load? Then it's definitely a bottleneck.

For multi-threaded optimized games like The Witcher 3? skip to about 2:20 in this video

Or...

Yes, It's gonna be a bottleneck.

Heyyo,

Eh, sorry for eiditng my post so much lol, but yeah here's a really recent benchmark where they compare the FX-8350 to the new skylake CPUs even:

Shadow of Mordor and that COD game most PC gamers don't care about seem to be the least eight-core CPU friendly games of the bunch.

This is an in depth article benchmarking this, and yes it will bottleneck a GTX 970 periode.

http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Systems/Quad-Core-Gaming-Roundup-How-Much-CPU-Do-You-Really-Need

Sould you get a new cpu, no cause the bottle neck is small.

When should you upgrade: If you get a 980ti (or two), or if you wait and get the next years nvidia grapich cards which is going to be ALOT faster then those on the market now. Or if you do cpu intensive work.
