Strange wifi issues.

We are having surprisingly low WiFi speeds in many parts of our home.  Originally i thought it might be my router so i replaced it with a Netgear X4 7500

 

We have very spotty wifi coverage in our bedroom however.   Most times it is ok.  But periodically it will drop completely for periods of time.  We do have a lot of devices connected to it however not enough to saturate it.    Should I try a specific channel perhaps?   Distance is no more than 30-35 feet.

Tried both 2.4 and 5 Ghz.   There are a number of new networks in the area,.  Interference was my thought as well.  hence wondering about the channel.    Maybe I will try moving everything to the 5Ghz instead of just some of it.
