I'm looking for a new laptop for college,

my preferences are:

• Intel I7/I5 (Not a fanboy, just a guy doing assembly)
• Nvidia GTX (PhysX engine)
• 8GB RAM
• 500GB HDD/SSD
• 15.6",17"
• 700$/900$
• Robust

I'll be doing lots of virtualization and a good game now and then.

I'm also a Linux user, so UEFI legacy mode must be accessible.

Can anyone help me out

I think in the end this would be a little over your budget, but should be good. Believe in Clevos.
