Windows 8.1 internet issues

Go to solution Solved by Oshino Shinobu,

You'll need the LAN drivers installed. You'll have to use the driver disk or put the driver on a USB stick, downloaded from another PC.

So this is a new computer, just installed the OS and need the internet to update some of my drivers but the thing is it says it can't find a network adapter. What do I do to fix this. The ethernet cable from the router is plugged in right into my computer. I really hope the problem isn't windows 8.1 not being compatible with my router.

Do you have another computer? You can get the drivers on that and then move them to the other computer and then install.

For a second I was confused on what a driver disk was also this is my first time learning I need to use the internet itself to get LAN drivers lol. Do I need any specific LAN driver or would any one thats for 8.1 do?

You'll need the one for your motherboard. There will be a driver section on the motherboard's product page

Ah, thank you very much. Honestly it would have taken me quite a while to figure out where to look for it. - I actually opened the CD manual to see if it told me where it was.
