Found a used MSI Twin Frozr 7950 boost on craigslist for $100 and ever since I've been without a GPU, min settings 60 fps has been killing me.

Anyways, seller claims that the GPU was only lightly overclocked and used for mining for only a week (he saw his electric bill).

Couple of questions:

1. At that price, is it worth it? I just need something for high settings 1080p 60fps so I assumed that this'll be enough for me.

2. Also, when I go to the seller, what should I ask him to do? Show me GPU Z to verify that its a 7950 boost, run a benchmark or game, and check temps?

3. What should I look for in the physical condition of the card? coil whine? dust? There's no warranty on this btw.

Thanks!

It's worth it for the price, if it's in good condition.

You should get him to run something like Unigine Valley and Firestrike to look for artefacts, and keep an eye on the temps and speeds during the tests. He may say it's only been used for a week, but there's no guarantee for that. If he refuses to run benchmarks and such, I wouldn't buy it.

How do I look for artifacts? Never really experienced one so I don't know what it looks like.
