So, after reading Anandtechs review, i was a bit.. stomped

http://anandtech.com/show/9483/intel-skylake-review-6700k-6600k-ddr4-ddr3-ipc-6th-generation/14

So... i was hoping for Iris Pro in ALL units, instead, we get some confusing shit

the sad part

http://anandtech.com/show/9307/the-kaveri-refresh-godavari-review-testing-amds-a10-7870k/5

And here is a direct comparison (i5 vs lower then i3 CPU... yeh, CPU vs CPU we should not be surprised to see the AMD APU getting rekt hard. However, iGPU vs iGPU is another story)

http://anandtech.com/bench/product/1544?vs=1497

AMD Kaveri is STILL ahead.. by a notable margin. Which means AMD is probably going to get complacent as the budget solution for a while longer...

I was hoping for a Z170 mITX iGPU gaming rig, with an i5...

So why wont i buy broadwell? Because... The Broadwell i5 5675C is slower then the Skylake i5 6600 CPU vs CPU, costs amost 100 USD more, and the socket (LGA1150) is now dead since all new stuff will come to 1151 instead....

However, note a few interesting results. Like the R9 285 Shadow of Mordor results ..... Weird... We do however also see that even a 860k (the CPU section of the 7870k) is still able to keep up with even the latest i5 in gaming (i5 is obviously better, but given that one costs 70USD and the other costs 240 USD, there is a clear indicator that with Nvidias CPU overhead helping the APU/860k along, there isnt much difference in raw gaming performance)

Either way, what is your guys predictions for iGPUs. When do you think Intel will catch up to AMDs current gen APUs with thier mainstream products?

Just want to point out a couple of things:

  1. 1150 Is not dead, far from it. It's reaching EOL, but it is far from a dead platform. They are still very fast CPU's, and will be for a few years to come.
  2. Broadwell is slightly more expensive because you're paying for Iris Pro, the amount of silicon on that little beast is huge! There's what, 128MB's of L4 Cache/EDRAM? That's an insanely expensive amount of silicon on it's own.

Gaming/Folding rig: Coolermaster CM 690 II Advanced White | MSI Z77A-G43 | Intel Core i7 3770k @ 4.4GHz | 10GB G.Skill RAM | Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 | Samsung 840 Pro 128GB | Seagate 2TB | Seagate 2TB | WD Blue 640GB | Cogage Arrow (Passive) | Thermaltake Toughpower XT 675w | Windows 10 Pro
