10Gbe network setup questions... PLEASE HELP!

Hello,

 

I am wanting to use a 10G SFP+ ethernet solution for my computers and my production servers. Here is the 10G SFP+ card I am wanting...

If I buy two of these, can I just connect the two together, plus some daisychaining, and have a 10GBe link to my server? I am not familiar with SFP+ and fiber networking yet. Is there any additional things I would need other than a 10G switch?

If you're wanting to link multiple things together via SFP+, you're going to need a switch for it.

 

But if you got two of them and connect them directly, I'd assume it'd work.

I need to make sure they work directly. There is only one server I need 10G on. The rest run off of a gigabit network. Linus did that when they first went 10G, just hook the two up directly with some daisychaining. Any YouTube videos on that?

My production server has 4 Kingston 240GB Solid State drives lol. I don't think a regular gigabit network will be enough. 10 gigabit is more like it, as each drive is capable of 500+ MegaBYTES per second.

My granddad has a NAS with some WD Blacks in there, they are capable of doing more then a 100mb/s. Now explain to me what is on your "production server" and what you need this 10gig connection for.
