As far as i know wd blue only goes to 1b. So if 1tb is enough for ya wd blue would be better price/performance/reliability. If you need more space u roll with wd black.

I haven't had a WD Black fail on me yet, and my 2tb is more than a few years old. It's seen well over 50tb of data go through it.

I roll with WD Blues. I got three HDD expansion slots inside the case and personally I dont need anymore :) .. and they're cheap !

Whats the difference beetween WD BLUE // WD BLACK ?

Hey there Redjo,

Some drives, such as WD Blue, are designed for simple computing, everyday usage and regular workloads. Others, such as WD Black, are designed with very heavy usage, demanding applications and more hostile environments in mind and have additional features both hardware-wise and software-wise.
WD Black as a built-in dual-core CPU than enable it to distribute the cache more efficiently thus improving the drive's capability to address more requests and optimize multitasking. Moreover, WD Black has longer warranty, has gone through more extensive testing and can sustain much harsher environments (in terms of temperature, vibrations, etc.). WD Black also goes above 1TB in capacity while the largest available WD Blue HDD is 1TB. :)

Basically for regular usage one wouldn't notice that much of a difference (gaming, light workloads, everyday usage), but when the drives are used more extensively for longer periods or much heavier workloads, WD Black clearly shows its advantage. :)
