Hey guys! I have an Asus Z97-A (usb 3.1 version) motherboard with a Pentium G3258 installed. Everything was working perfectly fine. I just got a new graphics card. So I shut down, turned off the PSU, unplugged the old graphics card (I was grounded) and put the new one in, plugged everything in and hit the power button.

nothing happened. my monitors didn't even flinch, and an LED under the CPU called the CPU LED (intuitive) stays lit up a solid red. I looked in the manual which says that if theres a critical error with a component (CPU, RAM, etc) its respective light will light up until the problem is solved. thing is, absolutely nothing happened, I've tried using the integrated graphics it just wont post at all. I switched back the graphics card and I've tried everything.  its so odd because I didn't even touch the CPU at all.

any ideas for what could solve this issue? I may be getting a new CPU soon, if I do will it work without any problems? I'd still like to use the Pentium in an htpc build.. so I want it to survive. any help is appreciated.

Check every single component thoroughly.

Check the CPU to see if there are marks on it. Check the socket to see if any pins are misaligned or even missing. Check to see if the RAM isn't damaged in any way. Check absolutely everything.
