5930k CPU Cooler

I have a 5930k Processor. Do I badly need a Liquid cooler or just fan cooler would be enough ?

Air will be fine but it will limit your overclock a little (I'm talking NH-D15 caliber). I would get a 280mm rad AIO simply for the headroom.

liquid cooling for sure. haswell-e is just too much heat for air.

get yourself a large tower cooler, preferably as big as your budget allows / fits in your case / fits next to your RAM.

yes the noctua was more quiet however it with it temps would spike to 85C+. 

 

The problem with air coolers is the heat pipes bottleneck the cooler. In other words the noctuas fine were still perfectly fine to touch barehanded but the core temp reading was very high. Haswell-e is just too big of a die and puts out too much heat for air coolers.

As you can see haswell-e goes crazy on power consumption (and heat output) when you OC them.

depends on how high you like your temps. IMO it's fine. 

 

i would point out that the u14s is probably one of the most quiet CPU coolers on the market so for me personally I'd be fine trading some heat for the reduced noise output.

i'm sure with one of the beefy noctuas you can have pretty ballin' performance, for less noise than the pump alone.

(noise is a large factor for me)

I bought a Corsair Hydro H105 Extreme and I'm glad that I did. It keeps my CPU nice and frosty. When you're spending the kind of money you are on an i7-5930k or any expensive chip, I don't know why you wouldn't want to spend another 100 bucks on making sure the thing keeps cool. But that's just me.

yes noctua was quiet but it's just wasn't enough for haswell-e and for the record i was running the cpu at 1.25v. 

 

for lga 1150 i would consider noctua as a quieter option tho.

these benchmarks seem accurate to me. 

 

The u14s, d14 and d15 all perform within a few degrees C of each other. cuz they all have 6 heat pipes.
