Hi All,

I'm looking to tear down an old gigabyte case I got with my mobo for my scrapyard build (that has been left un-used due to wanting to get a new case).

I came across the idea of creating a case using the sheet metal on the old case, (I also have some spare 3mm aluminium sheet lying around).

See https://www.tinkercad.com/things/6jtIYwlHibo-deedwardo-case-mod for a really basic 3d Render of it, the HDD's will be able to be mounted in the left hand side under the PSU.

Any thoughts around it?

Scrapyard Build Total Cost: $268AUD

C2Q E8200 | 4 x 1gb DDR2 | GA-EP45-DS3 r1 | Gammax 200 | 320gb 2.5" | 7870LE PCS | Litepower 500w | CISCO Aironet 350

Not too bad. Get a sheet of polycarbonate (Lexan) to close it off and still have a window. Even some acrylic will do but it won't be nearly as strong.

Yeah I was thinking of doing that, maybe even have a small bit of the right hand side covered at the front also just to chuck a couple 120mm fans there
