SSD Problems

So i recently built a new htpc using windows 7 home premium and a 60GB ssd for the boot drive. For some reason the boot drive is showing only 3.17GB available even though the total size of everything on it is only 27GB. so there should be like 20+ GB free right? does anyone have any ideas?

How did you partition the drive when installing W7?

it has only one partition, it's in ahci mode, and it's an ntfs partition.

Go into Disk Management and see what it says.

C: 55.80 GB Simple  Basic  NTFS      Healthy (Boot,Page File, Crash Dump, Primary Partition)

this is exactly what it says in disk management

 Some "Caching SSD" lable themself as 60GB but only appere as a 30GB SSD because it reserves the other half of the flash to extend its expected life... But the why does it then show up as a 55.80GB disk?

I'm not using it for caching, it's just the boot drive. it appears as a 55.8 GB drive under Computer as well, it just says it only has 3 GB free, which shouldn't be the case, because all that's on it is windows and chrome.

Update: ran disk check, no errors but problem persists

And if you go back to the folders, and select them all, and then right click and select properties, how much space is taken up?

Seems like it has a lifespan of 6 months. I would rma  it or exchange for something more reliable.

There was a firmware update but i get an error code when i try to install it

I don't think the drive is dead, because it performs very well and everything is snappy, the issue is that the capacity is being incorrectly displayed.

Now after restarting my computer my drive has decided that it has 5.7 GB free

 

Edit: now back to 3
