PCIe cables.

 If the PCIe cable is damaged/slightly exposed would that trigger any unwanted events? Power lost to heat thus more draw, instability?

Asking since I have an old PSU and I was wondering whether it's good for anything since I'm not entirely sure if the PCIe cables are good.

Tested and everything works, no stability issues I can see.
GPU-Z is reporting the core voltage constantly varying by 0.030V - 1.030 - 1.070 and like that back and forth but I'd wager that's normal as the load in games and benches varies slightly.

Its fine if its exposed, it could be bare copper wire as long as they wernt touching

 

Edit: The plastic around cables just stops them from touching, its not to regulate voltage etc

What about the slightly changing voltage reported by GPU-Z? That normal? I know it's not really possible to maintain a constant voltage with alternating load.

Is the clock speed changing as well? It could be boosting and using more power or down-clocking as there is less of a load.
