I've got a 1TB Seagate drive lying around which we've used in the past to keep photos backed up etc, and I'm wondering what the best way (cheapest) to get this drive on to our network for LAN access would be.

Hey there mister_s,

Connecting a drive to your router (provided it does support it and has a USB port) is a way to create a NAS. I'd check out some SATA to USB cables with an additional power cable (3.5" drive cannot be powered by the USB port alone and need external power) or a simple enclosure with a power cable. :) Just make sure the drive is stable and safe from physical damage while sitting near the router. :)

If this helped you, like and choose it as best answer - you might help someone else with the same issue. ^_^

Unfortunately, my router doesn't have a USB port it's a ASUS RT-N12 N300
