Reinstalling windows 10 post upgrade

I have recently upgraded from windows 7 to windows 10 by reformating my pc and doing a clean install of windows 7, from there I upgraded to windows 10. However, I am wondering how reinstalling windows 10 later would go (no hardware change). What should i do to reinstall windows 10 beyond the 1 year free upgrade period? I noticed that entering your windows 7 product key wont work with windows 10 clean install. that's why i did the windows 7 clean install first prior to installing windows 10. Anyone knows how to do it?

As far as I know, just logging back in with your Microsoft account will activate that same system. Shouldn't need to enter a Product Key during installation either.

This is correct, though I don't know if the account is necessary, it might be though.  I know if I log into my account on the site my PC is listed there as a device

It is not linked to Microsoft account. Hardware only. You will be able to activate without key.

That makes sense, otherwise re-selling devices could prove difficult...
