As far as I know it works but it kills the framerate, but I never owned AMD card so I am not sure.

Since they're optimised for NVIDIA cards specifically, not to the same extent as an AMD card.

It won't really take off noticeable framerates on Maxwell Nvidia cards I think and it pretty much kills framerates on older Kepler Nvidia cards. Gameworks isn't worth is at all for the small difference it makes I wouldn't bother with it even if I had an Nvidia card so you shouldn't let that sway your decision on what card to buy.

Lmao, no. That's not how business works even with software. You want to use it, you license it.
