Hello,

I just upgraded to Win10 from 8.1 and I encountered slow boot times.

1. Bios - takes normal ~ 8-9 seconds as before.

2. Windows logo loading ~ 10 seconds as before.

3. Black screen (no cursor, after 15 seconds if I move the mouse it shows the cursor but the black screen stays) ~ 30 seconds. Never happened before.

4. Windows log-on ~10 seconds as before.

I am using a mechanical HDD. So from boot times in the matter of 30 seconds, now it takes 1 minute +

I already tried some settings in the "System startup" menu but with no avail.

Download ProduKey, write down the Windows 10 serial key and do a clean install.

Upgrades suck and break your computer

Yes, I wanted to do a clean install but my laziness overpowered my mind :( I will do a clean install hopefully next week when I have more time.

Thanks!

As long as you activated with your Microsoft Account, then you'll never need a product key again.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

I finally found why I got the 30 seconds delay with the black screen. I looked into the System event logs and i found each time about 25 second gaps after the following error:

"The VMware Bridge Protocol service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified
."

I uninstalled VMware Workstation just after the upgrade, so I am pretty sure it is not Windows 10, but that service. It is nowhere to be found. I already checked services, searched for obsolete vmware folders and files, registry, you name it. the issue remains :(

Here is how it looks like:
