Install Win 10 on usb or hdd?

Hey guys!

 

I haven't yet upgraded to win 10 but would like to do it in the near future.

 

My question is should I install it on a usb or my hdd? I guess the usb isn't as fast as the hdd (although it is usb 3.0) but I could use it to re-install windows in the future if needed and If I'd put the os on my hdd I'd need to make an image etc. onto the usb to re-install, right?
