for HDD depends who you ask, I say Western Digital/Seagate/Hitachi

each manufacturer brings something to market they have to offer, and has a specific set of advantages and disadvantages.

 

in the end brands are personal preference.

i've had REALLY good luck with toshiba hard drives... they seem to just not die...

theres more things than reliability tho.

 

if you're looking for a hard drive for your main system, get a seagate barracuda (not the 3TB ones, they seem to be unreliable, anything else is fine)

the few seagates i've had myself seem plenty reliable, are all decently fast, and decently quiet.

I very much agree but I personally have had better luck with WD drives however I run Josh in my current rig. If you want speed but not SSD level then get a velociraptor drive from WD
