I am having some trouble overclocking my CPU, I can get the overclock going just fine, but for some reason my memory is underclocked very bad.

I am overclocking my 5820k and my memory is Crucial Ballistix x2 8GB at 2400mhz.

My memory is underclocked to around 1000mhz.

The overclock I am shooting for is 4.4ghz which I can reach just fine, except the problems with my memory.

My full system specs are here: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/KickinGravy/saved/

Please bear in mind that this my first time both building and overclocking a PC

What are you using to see the CPU/memory frequency and are you sure it isn't refering to base clock?

This is a signature.

The OP said it is running at 1000, which is 2000 MHz, which is still not bad. But, you can go into the BIOS and change the RAM speed.... Its a simple setting that should be right there easy to see.

Not to sound like a dick, I really don't mean it to come off as insulting or rude, but have you done enough research into overclocking and changing BIOS settings to achieve your desired OC? It is very easy for a new overcocker to go and overclock "K" skew chips these days, its almost too easy as it makes people just go and try stuff. Make sure you do A LOT of homework before you try and OC. This issue should have been addressed in some overclocking videos that you can find on youtube, or in forum threads about OC advice.

Just lookin out for you and your hardware, do lots of homework!
