Hey guys! So I have decided to do a build log for the upcoming 'Frankenstein' build. The name was originally a joke, as I liked the name 'Monochrome' but quickly discovered how cliche that was and so Frankenstein it became!

Let me first go over the reasoning for this build. I do have the Tomahawk build which is my dream machine, sporting an i7 4790k, Maximus VII Hero, 16 GB of Kingston HyperX Fury, a Corsair RM1000 and over 4 TB of storage. Tomahawk is an awesome machine, soon to get an upgrade to the R9 Fury Strix, but it stays in the home office. As a Youtuber myself, I need a place where I can record and edit videos at any given time, which just isn't possible at the moment. Frankenstein will hopefully be my solution, as it will stay in my room with everything I need to record like a mic, webcam, etc.

The build will consist of mostly reused part, with a couple of gifts, couple of parts bought second hand and a few new goodies to tie it all up. Here's the list:

  • AMD FX 6100 - Given to me
  • MSI 970A SLI Krait Edition - Bought new
  • MSI R9 280 Twin Frozr - Bought used
  • G.Skill Ripjaws X 8GB - Reused OR Super Talent 16 GB - Given to me (Not sure on this one, help me out!)
  • CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO - Reused
  • Seagate Barracuda 1 TB - Reused
  • Intel 330 Series 60 GB SSD - Given to me

Parts that I will be getting within the next week or so

  • Seasonic M12II 620 Bronze Power Supply (replacing Raidmax RX-600AF)
  • Fractal Design Define S (replacing Silverstone RL02)
  • Bitfenix Alchemy White LED Strips

So yeah, Lots of fun stuff to come in the next few weeks! This build shold look sweet when I'm done, there's a possibility that I'll be getting some of CableMod's new custom extensions to really compliment the black and white build with the occasional red accent. I should have pictures up on this thread later tonight, stay tuned!
