1. Budget & Location
1000 - 1300 Euros, Belgium. May use Amazon.co.uk/de or ldlc.be

2. Aim
The system is purely for gaming and streaming.

3. Monitors
Single monitor to be bought later. Probably 1920x1080

4. Peripherals
Only one monitor to be bought at 1920x1080 or higher. Price range of 150-200 euros

5. Why are you upgrading?
I am currently running on a 7years old computer, it is time for a change!

-----------

I have made a topic in the past using an i5-3570k, but this time i'd like to try an Haswell based build.

CPU: i5-4670k

MOBO: ?
RAM: 8GB 1600MHz CL9 DDR3 Corsair Vengeance two module kit.

Graphics Card: Waiting for the new AMD models.

Hard Disk: Western Digital Caviar Black 1 To

Power Supply: ?

Case: Corsair Vengeance C70 or any other suggestion. (Fractal Design Arc midi 2)

Watercooling: Corsair Hydro H100i

I already own an SSD, mouse, keyboard, and headset.

This build is estimated at 1250euros

Please let me know if you think it is worth getting an Haswell build for the extra cost of 40-100 euros. My computer is easily turned on for about 10H+ per day.

Thank you in advance!

Here's my suggestion: http://de.pcpartpicker.com/p/1px3U

Crossfire ready.

If I may suggest something:

Monitor id recommend is Dell u2312hm or smthing like that, and it is a great IPs 60hz 1080p display.

As to the build I will build something in few minutes.

The monitor price is not considered within the budget. That will be a future expense.

Thank you for the power supply ;)

Any ideas on a motherboard?

So... If Jesus had the gold, would he buy himself out instead of waiting 3 days for the respawn?

I'd get this (no graphics card or monitor):

http://de.pcpartpicker.com/p/1py3W

You can save money by going with smaller HDD but this is top notch designed to run 24/7 in hot environment. It's lovely and best price/gb you can get. And pretty much one of fastest HDD you will ever use. And SSD for system and most used apps.

How does not having a graphics card make a good gaming and streaming rig??

Did you read the OP? "Waiting for new Radeons".

That said i just noticed you already have an SSD so in this case:

http://de.pcpartpicker.com/p/1py1u

That leaves you with 400€+ for GPU itself which should be enough to grab a new 9970/9950. And as i said before you can save some money by going with smaller HDD but smaller HDD=smaller efficiency and speed as well. The bigger the HDD the faster it actually is because of laws of HDD architecture. :D

Thanks a lot for the suggestions :)!

I've heard positive and negative about Haswell, so I'm currently trying to decide on that side of the purchase. I will be buying the parts end of this month!

Edit: I thought 830euros was rather cheap, there is no price tag for the CPU. This setup would leave me with about 200euros for a GPU.

I did look into AMD for the CPU but I've heard way too many bad things about them, so I'd rather stick to Intel for the CPU (will cost more I know). However in terms of         GPU I have no problem going for AMD!

Nothing wrong with haswell. So are you getting my build? :)

I'm also considering the AMD model. However, can someone explain why I cannot find a Motherboard for AMD with either DVI, VGA or HDMI?

My current monitor uses DVI.

This is because most of the motherboards for AM3+ do not support onboard graphics.

You would use the dvi from the graphics card and not the motherboard.

  • 3 weeks later...

Hi guys,

I've decided to go for an i5-3570k and therefore all the components are LGA 1155.

There is a special offer on many parts on LDLC.BE of -25% discount. I would therefore like to buy most of my components if not all by tomorrow.

Do you think it is worth getting a 7970 or wait the 9xxx? The 7970 is -75euros. Could someone please tell me the difference between the two options and which one is best?

http://www.ldlc.be/fiche/PB00131158.html --> Says HDMI (title) but when you go below it to the characteristics there is nothing that says HDMI.

http://www.ldlc.be/fiche/PB00137275.html

What would you recommend for MoBo?

Asus Maximus IV Extreme? 125.14 Euros

               Asus P8z77-V Pro? 116.82 Euros

And would you get a Seasonic P-760 Platinum 80PLUS platinum for 134 euros?

Finally, there is also a discount on Corsair 300R and the H110. Would the h110 fit into the 300R, or should I get a C70 Vengeance (double the price)?

I am only interested in the Corsair or Fractal Design cases (with window), here is a list of those on discount: http://www.ldlc.be/informatique/c3063/+fv0-4678+fd-1.html

Thank you all in advance!!!

Go with AM3+, for streaming the i5 is horrible comparing to any FX-8xxx.

The Maximus IV Extreme is for LGA 2011. Get a MSI Gaming motherboard.

Go with Fractal stuff, they do really nice things, my opinion: Arc Midi R2.

About the GPU, they probably comes with a DVI to HDMI adapter.
