  • ok so i recently upgraded my pc from a i5 2500k and asrock H77 itx mother board to whats mentiond below. all of the stuff was in the old pc and worked perfect. i chose to keep my current install of windows rather than reinstall again as that would be to time consuming for me, on the 2tb storage i have 2x 1tb partions, one for storage of personal stuff, and one with all the programs i need and am currently using (about 500gb). when i boot up into bios everything looks good and as it should, showing all my drives, mouse and keyboard are working but when i boot into windows the kebboard and mouse wont work, i am suspecting it is a driver issue as i would need to install the drivers for the mobo but cant use keyboard or mouse to run the setup, have tried all the diffrent usb ports, usb2 and 3. i have booted into safe mode and the keyboard and mouse work just fine then but i cant install any drivers in safe mode.

has been driving me mad for the last 3hrs trying to get it working and still no closer. any help would be much apreciaed.

A Windows installation is bound to your hardware (specifically your mobo). You can't just transfer the files. You need to reinstall, so back up your data!

i have done it before on other systems without any problems have even gone from a socket 775 to 1155

Have you tried using a PS2 keyboard/mouse?

mobo dosnt have a ps2 port, would a usb to ps2 adapter work? have a old ps2 keyboard and mouse that can use if that would work

Ok so just booted into windows install setup again and keyboard and mouse worked. Wierd I changed nothing. Still not working in windows tho. If I was to reinstall windows would all my programs on my other drive have to be reinstalled again also would think they would mess up with the registry

I'm almost sure you will have to install all programs again. If you use ninite it will make it slightly easier.
