Which Tablet?

Go to solution Solved by nishank93,

Thanks for your input, any ideas when the new transformer will be out?  I was leaning towards the nexus 7 cause I find it hard to justify spending $600 on a tablet.

It was reported on the Verge that it would be out this fall (Q3) for 399 USD (tablet only) or 499 USD (keyboard bundle). I think 499 is amazingly well-priced for a 32GB(+ microSD expandable) Tegra 4 tablet with a keyboard dock that extends battery life, has a full size USB port (  ), and a SD card slot.

But yeah, if that is too far away or too expensive for you, the new Nexus 7 is brilliant.

Hello everyone!  I am looking at getting a tablet and I need some advice about which one and/or if I should wait for new models to come out.  I will be doing mostly media consumption (Youtube, movies etc.), reading documents and typing quick notes on my bluetooth keyboard.  What would be best for my uses, 10" or 7"?

Requirements:

-Android

-1080p resolution minimum

-8+ hours of battery life

-32GB of storage

-prefer if it has micro SD

-usb host functionality

My Current Choices:

-Sony Xperia Z tablet

-Nexus 10
-Transformer Pad Infinity (Tegra 3 one)

-Nexus 7

-Galaxy note 8.0

Thanks everyone!

I would go for the Nexus 7 if I had the choice.

Would the 7" nexus be ok to read documents on w/ graphs etc. and also would it be large enough to type on using a bluetooth keyboard? I've never had a 7" tablet before.

If I were buying a tablet now, I'd go for the new Nexus 7 without a doubt (and I have the same use case as you). If I'm buying later, I'd wait for something along the lines of the announced Asus Transformer Pad Infinity.

Desktop: Intel Core i7-5820K, Corsair H115i, Asus X99-Deluxe/USB 3.1, G.Skill Ripjaws4 32GB 2800MHz CL16, Zotac RTX 3070, Samsung 950 Pro 512GB in Angelbird Wings PX1, Samsung 850 EVO 1TB, 5*Seagate 12TB, Cooler Master V1200, Phanteks Enthoo Luxe, Windows 10 Pro. Phillips 328P6VUBREB, Corsair Vengeance K95 RGB Cherry MX Brown, Logitech G502 X Plus, Sennheiser HD700.

AYANEO 2S: AMD 7800U, 32GB 7500MHz, 2TB WD SN850X. Windows 11.

I know its not on the list but.. The samsung galaxy tab 2 10.1 Im using it daily with the cyanogenmod 10.1 rom wich is based on android jb 4.2.2 and overclocked from 1ghz to 1,4ghz. Pure joy to use for absolutely everything.

-Micro-SD

-Cheap

-10.1 Inch Screen

-Cyanogenmod will bring android 4.3 to the device (If you root and flash, google it)

If you want to have something great right out of the box i with no tweaking/rooting and flashing go for the nexus 7, my friend have the device and its REALY good.

I would agree with the rest of the people that you should get the new Nexus 7

It is pretty cheap compared to the other tablets, plus it performs pretty well.

Also, the 7" form factor is pretty handy, small enough to easily hold in your hand, but not big enough to not fit inside a purse or take up alot of room in a backpack
