Hi.

While I do think that I'm quite good when it comes to computers I've never actually updated my bios and I'm afraid of bricking my mobo.. And I really don't have the cash to get a new one if something were to happen to this one.

I know it's a slightly older board, but it still gets the job done. I think I can handle the installation myself, but I'd like some help on finding just the right update so I don't mess anything up by accident.

(I'll just screengrab some specs as I’m too tired to type them out...)

mobo:http://gyazo.com/156a43aa9975db2f3fa00562ca47bb1b

cpu: http://gyazo.com/0cc9e5c2231ae81368b19d639fc03d34

gpu: gtx 970 strix

I've found myself onto http://eu.msi.com/support/mb/P67AGD55_B3.html#down-bios but I'd like to just check that It actually is the correct version of the board (I don't trust myself after I almost shorted my system out when working on it).

I just grab the 4.3 version, which was released 2013.01.09? Then what? Do I have to throw it onto a USB-stick and and just reboot? or ..?

I'll head off to sleep and I'll come back to this in the morning. Thank you in advance.

You got it all right, man. Just put the exe on an external disk and execute.

-snip-

If you're not experiencing any problems with the current BIOS revision there is no reason to update it, unless the newer BIOS enables hardware that you are trying to swap in.

Not sure if it's a BIOS related issue or windows. But sometimes when I shutdown my system an error occurs(and force stops the system from shutting down). The only way to shut my system down is to alt-ctrl-del and open task manager. Only then does it bring it up and clicking ok then shutsdown my system.. This has persisted accross multiple windows reinstalls on both my HDD and my SSD's so that's why I'm thinking it's bios related.
