Hi guys, I need some help picking between these three, the sennheiser HD598, Beyerdynamics 990 Pro, and the audiotechnica ad 900x. I mostly will use them for gaming and watching videos. I am also getting a fiio e10k. Anyone have experience with any of these? Greatly appreciated

I have sennheiser 558's. They are essentially the same as 598's. They're awsome. I've never used the other 2 but the sennheisers are great.

How much do your ears get covered? My ear lobes are stretched pretty large so the more comfortable the better

Completely covered for me personally.

If you decide to go with the 598s, they are super lightweight and comfortable. Can't comment on their less pricey cousin though. I have big ears so it helps to cover them nice. They have never once caused them to sweat or become uncomfortable.

I'd say this boils down to personal preference. The 558 is slightly warm, with slightly forward upper bass and non-fatiguing treble. The DT 990 has boosted upper bass and treble. Some people find the treble to be too much. The AD700x has forward mids with a fairly agressive roll-off into the bass; little sub-bass to speak of. However, they will be the best for soundstage and positional audio.

Any would be a good choice.

I do not recommend the Fiio E10K. You should buy the headphones first, as it is likely that you will not need a DAC or amp. If you do find that you need one, the SMSL SD793-II is the best DAC/amp under $100 if you have optical-out on your motherboard. Otherwise, the Schiit Fulla is decent for USB-only connectivity.

Just checking you are talking specifically about the AD700X and not the 900x correct?
